How to block GPS signal?

by MK Lu 06 Apr 2022

Whether you're locating business assets or monitoring the location of a loved one, GPS trackers have become undeniably reliable. However, users are increasingly relying on these things, which encourages hackers to twist the system even more. Obviously, any possible disruption in the functionality of these devices can significantly affect their performance.

GPS monitoring devices are mainly used for real-time location tracking to monitor property and relatives. Over the years, surveillance equipment has been used to carry out legal tasks, including rescue missions, monitoring sex offenders or monitoring probation officers. It can also be used to locate and protect fleets. The device can help fleet managers protect their vehicles and ensure quick recovery in the event of property theft, giving companies the opportunity to earn lower insurance premiums. In fact, these tracking devices have been used to verify the whereabouts of spouses for possible infidelity.

For these reasons, people naturally need to interfere with GPS to ensure their devices are always working. Ironically, however, GPS tracking devices can jeopardize personal safety as much as they create safety. GPS signals can be used to stop things when terrorists have access to vital location information about government property, or even when a wife is trying to catch her cheating husband.

The various methods of obfuscating or disrupting GPS signals also depend on the type of surveillance equipment used. The most straightforward way to avoid tracking is to destroy the GPS device and make sure it doesn't taper off. However, if the intent is to covertly tamper with it without knowing the installer, it is easy to impede or impair the transmission of the tracking device using these instruments:

1. Metal shield

This is a cheaper option. Simply encapsulate the tracking device with a metal cover such as brass mesh or a protective film for lead camera film. Thieves allegedly used refrigerated trucks to transport vehicles equipped with GPS tracking devices to avoid pursuit.

2. GPS Jammer

GPS jammer are mostly sold online. A 12V adapter plugged into a vehicle now destroys GPS radio signals within range.

3. Cell phone signal jammer

The device is a cell phone scrambler, which means cell phone use can be avoided. When using automatic tracking devices, this scrambler prevents wireless tracking devices from sending real-time location updates.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
