What do the expulsion and forced landing in the drone jammer specifically mean?

by LIU YIFA 10 Jun 2025

Now many confidential units or key government departments have begun to install and use drone jammers. At some large-scale event sites or places where people gather densely, special service personnel will also be equipped with portable drone jammers, such as handheld drone jammers, from the perspective of maintaining public security and stability. Once a malicious drone is found, the expulsion and forced landing modes will be mentioned when dealing with it. So, what do the expulsion and forced landing in the drone jammer specifically represent? How much difference is there between the two?

Expulsion, as the name suggests, means to drive away or forcefully drive away. If a drone flies close to us, we only want to let it fly away from the scene as soon as possible, or let it return automatically, so as not to harass us. At this time, the expulsion mode of the drone jammer is activated. The expulsion mode usually does not activate interference with the GPS positioning frequency band of the drone, so most drone models or varieties, in the expulsion mode, first lose the image transmission and flight control functions, and then the drone will turn on the automatic return mode to return to the initial position where the drone was released.

Forced landing means that measures such as capturing, grabbing or damaging the drone are required. When the drone jammer is running in forced landing mode, it will interfere with and suppress the drone's image transmission, flight control, navigation and positioning communication bands at the same time. In this state, the drone cannot receive the flight control instructions of the remote control operator, nor can it receive images and GPS positioning information. Moreover, since the drone has lost its location information, it cannot start the automatic return mode by itself. Under the continuous action of the drone jammer, most drones will take actions such as landing or hovering on the spot, and a small number of drone models will fall on the spot.

Through the above description, the most obvious difference between the expulsion and forced landing functions in the drone signal jammer is whether to interfere with the GPS navigation positioning.
